Post-doctoral positions available in crop genetic engineering, gene-editing, and genomics
Post-doctoral positions are anticipated to be available in the areas of crop genetic engineering, gene-editing and genomics beginning on or after September 1, 2019. Positions are renewable yearly.
We are seeking highly-motivated researchers with expertise in plant genetics and genomics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree, or be completing a Ph.D. in the near future. Applicants are expected to have relevant laboratory (cell biology, molecular construction and analysis), controlled environment propagation, and informatics skills, and documented success in publishing peer-reviewed research articles. It is expected that successful applicants will have a near-term goal of pursuing independent research careers in crop science.
Crop Tissue Culture and Transformation: The goal of this research is to break bottle-necks in transformation and gene-editing in soy and maize. The incumbent will implement and develop systems for transformation with specific focus on meristem transformation and on additional novel, high-efficiency, genotype flexible systems. Research will also focus on Incorporation of genome editing strategies within the systems. Research and publication priorities will be developed with the incumbent to support their future career goals. For more information on position details, contact Heidi Kaeppler (email@example.com).
Maize Gene-editing and Genomics: The goal of this research is to develop genetic tools to characterize genome function and transposon biology as part of a collaborative project. Implementing efficient transformation and gene-editing systems in target inbreds will be an initial focus. Research and publication priorities will be developed with the incumbent to support their future career goals. For more information on the position, contact Shawn Kaeppler (firstname.lastname@example.org).
To apply send a curriculum vitae; a cover letter detailing their previous experiences, reason for interest in this position, and career goals to Heidi Kaeppler (email@example.com) and Shawn Kaeppler (firstname.lastname@example.org). In addition, please arrange for three letters of reference to be sent. Applications will be considered until the position is filled – complete applications received by August 23, 2019 will be assured full consideration.
