Graduate programs
Explore advanced degrees and research opportunities across diverse disciplines, each program meticulously curated to cater to your intellectual pursuits.
Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences integrates plant sciences with agroecological approaches to create more resilient crops and landscapes in response to a changing climate and other global pressures placed on food-energy-water systems.
Plant Breeding & Plant Genetics Program includes members from agronomy, biochemistry, botany, genetics, horticulture, plant pathology, and statistics. Research areas include biochemical and molecular genetics, biometry, quantitative genetics, cytogenetics and cytology, genecology, genetics, and plant breeding.
Botany includes projects related to plant biology at any level of organization, from molecules, through cells and organs, to populations, communities, and lineages of organisms. Major research areas emphasized are molecular, cellular and developmental biology, structural plant biology, ecology, evolution and systematics.

Biotechnology Center
The University of Wisconsin Biotechnology Center (UWBC), located at 425 Henry Mall, offers state-of-the-art research services at competitive user fees to UW-Madsion scientists. The services can increase the quality and quantity of your biological science research and enhance your competitiveness for federal grant support. These services include: DNA synthesis and sequencing, peptide synthesis, peptide sequencing and mass spectrometry of phosphopeptides and small metabolites, production of transgenic/knockout mice and rats, education programs and multimedia technology resources. Most of their services are also available to state, regional, national and international researchers.
Libraries
The UW-Madison Libraries emphasize service and see over 4,000,000 visitors every year. Library staff take an active interest in serving the teaching, research and scholarly activities of UW System students, faculty, staff, and the citizens of Wisconsin as well as visiting scholars.
MaizeGDB
MaizeGDB (Maize Genetics and Genomics Database) is a community-oriented, long-term, federally funded informatics service to researchers focused on the crop plant and model organism Zea mays.
National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)
The National Center for Biotechnology Information advances science and health by providing access to biomedical and genomic information.
PubMed
PubMed comprises more than 24 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher web sites.
